Clear-channel Basic Rate ISDN switched calls for BRI over Packet Networks. Deliver uncompressed clock-locked channels for data and voice applications.
Similar in concept to the PacketBand-ISDN-4P which has up to 4 PRI interfaces, the PacketBand-ISDN-8B supports up to 8 BRI presentations.
The unit’s BRI ports are available as “NT” (looks like a network and connect to local ISDN devices) and “TE” (looks like ISDN devices and connects to an ISDN network) in a number of combinations.
The NT interfaces typically connect to local ISDN BRI devices whereas the TE presentation is normally to a “real” ISDN network. PacketBand access to the real ISDN network means devices on the Packet Network can use this “gateway” to dial equipment anywhere in the world via ISDN. Equally, remote ISDN equipment can, with the correct authorisation, dial into equipment across the Packet Network.
Able to recover clocks very accurately across the Packet Network, PacketBand delivers a very stable clock to attached devices. In effect, all attached devices are locked to a common clock and all are clocked very accurately with no slips or packet loss due to clocks or PacketBand.
The clock synchronisation means accurate communications across the Packet Network enabling all types of ISDN equipment to communicate reliably and also makes the ISDN break-in/out possible.
Devices and applications that need to work in a synchronous environment will work successfully with PacketBand. This includes encryptors, codecs, video and secure phones. |
The PacketBand will dynamically place calls across/through the Packet Network in response to dialing by the ISDN terminal equipment.
Calls to different locations can be made simultaneously, and any combination of out-going and in-coming calls.
Calls can be placed via internal routing tables (with Primary/Secondary/tertiary options for resilience) or using a recently-released SIP server option which centralises all routing and configuration.
PacketBand also supports advanced features such as number translation/manipulation.
The unit inter-works with other PacketBand products, not only ISDN versions, but uniquely PacketBand can inter-connect dissimilar devices so, for example, a BRI device can connect via PacketBand, across and IP network to a V.35 piece of equipment.
