Patapsco's BTS Feeder can deliver low-cost capacity for Microcells quickly, efficiently and flexibly.
The remote-site Feeder uses ISDN to provide up to eight 64kbps channels to a G.704 BTS microcell with compatible cards within the DB120 for the G.704 circuits at the ASC and/or BSC locations.
Many Mobile Operators have inter-connect agreements which means the cost of ISDN calls can be very inexpensive, especially compared to delivering leased lines or microwave to remote BTS microcells.
Delivery of ISDN can be very fast compared to a leased line and the switched architecture of ISDN also provides resilience and other maintenance benefits.
The BTS micro cell Feeder solution also makes reconfiguring of cells on different ASC G.704 trunks fast and easy. Capacity can be scheduled depending upon time-of-day and the BSC ASC chassis-based solution in Patapsco's DB120 gives high packing density with excellent resilience.

The Diagram below illustrates one possible configuration option with small BTS Feeder products at the BTS sites providing a partially-populated G.704 to the BTS, with ISDN connections to a DB120 chassis at the BSC/ASC which delivers fully-populated G.704 interfaces to the switch. Up to 70 BTS sites can be supported in a single 3U-high chassis.
