Patapsco's Liberator
ISDN converter product range offers a very wide
range of ISDN conversion options,
some PRI to BRI examples are shown
below.
The requirements
for an ISDN PRI to BRI ISDN converter
cover a number of applications:
1.
Depending where you are located,
PRIs can be much less expensive
to install and rent than multiple
BRIs
2. You may have other telecoms
products which are incompatible with
existing interfaces
3. PRI is available
and low cost but local equipment
presents BRIs
4. Quite often customer
devices requiring BRI interfaces
do not need access to the network
all the time. This can lead to an
inefficient use of BRI ports and
the associated extra installation
and rental expense. Using a converter
can save installation and rental
charges
5. BRI ports can
be a little unreliable and many customers
find they have "disappeared" when
they come to use them. It is not
possible to establish if a BRI is
working until a call is placed but
a PRI circuit is monitored continually
6.
Or perhaps space and cabling are
an issue with many BRIs where a PRI
would be easier to install and manage
Need a multiple PRI switch? See the Liberator "D"
Liberator can convert and deliver BRI ports from a PRI or fractional PRI circuit.
If required, Liberator can offer more local BRI ports than network ports. Local devices contend for the capacity on the assumption that not all BRIs are in use at the same time. This can save considerable sums of money.
Potential advantages are:
- ISDN conversion reduces rental
costs through lower cost
PRI and/or contention
- PRI conversion offers a
more reliable service as
it is continually monitored,
unlike BRIs
- The Liberator ISDN converter provides simplified cabling
and billing
The Liberator
DUO can provide BRI "U" interfaces
as well as "S" BRIs - the complete ISDN converter.
The diagrams below
show "U" interfaces connecting directly to local ISDN devices or extending ISDN over long distances.

The low-cost Liberator ISDN converter can also connect incompatible devices, making an installation possible where it was not before.
Liberator is often
used with VoIP and Mobile gateways
The diagram below shows a PRI Mobile Gateway with just a PRI interface, connecting to a PABX with BRI ports. See more applications showing Liberator's multiple PRI capability or in the product section.

Patapsco's Liberator products can also deliver local PRIs where needed (see diagram below) and this is covered on a separate Application page describing Sharing PRIs.

Do you want to do the opposite of above and use BRIs
from the network to deliver a local
PRI?
