The use of Mobile Gateways and VoIP Gateways is increasing.
In many countries the cost of a mobile-to-mobile call can be significantly less than a land-line to mobile call and the Mobile Gateway addresses this application but sometimes the network interfaces on the Gateway do not match either the PABX ports or the existing network access.
VoIP Gateways can have similar problems.
1. The Mobile Gateway will often be connected to the PABX which must then be configured to route all calls destined for mobile phones to the gateway.
But there can be some issues:
- Some gateways
only support BRI interfaces of
a type which may not be available
on the PABX
- Some gateways
do not have a PRI interface when
this is the only, or best option
on the PABX
- The PABX may
not be able to route the calls
correctly
- You need to
involve your PABX vendor/maintainer
in reconfiguring the switch.
Liberator can help in a number of ways.
This
diagram illustrates adding a BRI
Gateway to a system using PRI. No
PABX or network changes are needed
to interfaces and Liberator can even
route the calls to the Gateway so
absolutely no PABX reconfiguration
work is needed.

In this diagram the Liberator is used because perhaps the PABX cannot have any more ports added, the PABX may not support the correct BRI presentation and Liberator does all the routing so bo changes are needed to the switches configuration.

- Liberator can convert almost any BRI interface to any other and convert BRIs to PRI, making inter-connectivity fast, low-cost and simple
- It can route calls automatically to either the ISDN network or to the gateway without having to change any switch configuration or involve the switch vendor/maintainer
- It can cycle through gateway ports in a number of different ways to make sure each SIM card is loaded similarly
- It is very simple to configure and reconfigure via an intuitive graphical interface (see brief demo)
2. The application for VoIP Gateways is similar to that of Mobile Gateways, but perhaps the diagram below shows a more typical use where a PRI Gateway is easily dropped into a BRI environment. Once again there are no changes to the PABX setup as Liberator can route the correct calls to either the ISDN or the Gateway.
Using Liberator in a VoIP migration scenario is covered under VoIP Migration Tool.
