- PacketBand-ISDN can source its clock from any other PB-ISDN via an “ISDN” call across the Packet Network. This “internal” call does not affect any device connected.
- Once the clock is “locked” the call is cleared and a sophisticated Phase Locked Loop (PLL) then maintains this clock to a high accuracy.
- This clock is then used for calls.
- Occasionally a brief internal ISDN call will be made to tighten the clock.
- Typical clock accuracy is 10-40ppb (parts per billion).

- In many point-to-point applications, between offices for example, PacketBand uses similar or lower actual data capacity and with lower latency and higher-quality voice because of they are clock-locked.
- PacketBand cannot, however, communicate with other VoIP telephones which a VoIP Gateway can.
- Please note Patapsco are releasing a PRI VoIP Gateway soon and information is available on this site.
