Q. Where can I download the DbManager software?
Please register at http://www.Patapsco.co.uk/Top_Level/LogIn_Register.asp for access to DbManager software. Back to top
Q. I do not have a Serial Number to install DbManager
DbManager will run in 'Lite' mode if no serial number is used. Lite mode allows access to most settings on Patapsco units, but does not support multi-user/workstation functionality and does not allow configuration of a network map to monitor many devices. Please consult Patapsco for information on purchasing a low-cost full multi-user/workstation/node version of DbManager which provides additional features and capabilities over the DbLite version. A Comparison Chart is available. Back to top
Q. I have made my configuration changes and saved them, but the Patapsco device is still not working. How do I make the changes take effect?
Changes to configuration must be uploaded to a unit in order to come into effect. While the 'Connected to Device' window is selected, go to File - Upload and wait for the progress bar to complete. Back to top
Q. When I try to connect, DbMgr says "Logging into Device on COM "X": at Baud Rate 19200" and cycles through the baud rates. Why?
Patapsco units can be set for a number of different baud rates. DbMgr will cycle through them when it tries to connect to a unit, in case the DbMgr setting and the setting on the Patapsco unit are different. If DbMgr cycles through all of the baud rates and is still not able to connect, this indicates a COM port connection problem. This feature can be turned off in View/ Properties/Terminal/Auto-adjust Back to top
Q. I don't have my DbManager install disk. Is there another way I can get the application?

Q. I only have one Device node on my map window, but I have multiple PacketBand devices. How can I add more nodes?
DbManager Lite only allows a single node for connection to devices. A list of IP addresses can be configured in DbManager and switched between using the single node. Alternatively, a full DbManager license can be purchased, which will allow a set number of nodes to be added. Please contact Patapsco for details or download the DbManager Comparison Chart. Q. Where can I locate the Manual, Quick Start Guide & other useful information?
All documentation required can be located on the install CD shipped with the equipment. Also, the full CD image can be downloaded from the Patapsco web site. Back to top
Q. The firmware on my Patapsco unit is out of date. Can I have the latest firmware?
Firmware support for products and DbManager can be purchased with Patapsco units, or can be bought as an upgrade. One-off code updates can also be purchased if required. Please contact Patapsco to check if your unit is eligible for a firmware update. Back to top
Q. I have connected to the device, but only have limited options. Most have been agreed out, why?
DbManager can operate in two different modes, "Starter" and "Expert". A prompt asking whether Starter or Expert mode is required is displayed when DbManager starts up, or the option can also be located on the toolbar (View/Properties/Device Configuring ). Starter configuration allows access to the basic configuration settings on a device, while Expert allows access to all the available options. Back to top
Q. Where can I download the DbManager software?
Please register at http://www.Patapsco.co.uk/Top_Level/LogIn_Register.asp for access to DbManager software. Back to top
Q. Why can’t I connect to the device?
If any other applications which use the COM port are in use, please close them down when using DbManager. In some cases, due to other applications not disconnecting from the COM ports correctly, it is necessary to reboot the PC after using such applications in order to free up the COM port for DbManager to use.
Only one user can connect to a Patapsco device at any one time.
If you are connecting via IP, please make sure that the required firewall port (default 3001) is open. Also, be sure no other device on the network has the same IP address. When a PC has DbManager running and set for IP mode, it will set up a TCP socket connection with each device IP address it is configured to manage. No other PCs running DbManager will be able to connect to the device. If multiple PC workstations are required to manage devices, please contact Patapsco for more information on DbManager versions. Q. When I upload to my device, I get an error message about commands not being accepted. Why?
If commands are not accepted on an upload, the most likely cause is that the version of DbManager in use is older than the firmware on the Patapsco unit. If you have a DbManager installation disk, please see the ‘Upgrade’ folder for information on how to upgrade, or contact Patapsco for instructions on how to upgrade. Back to top
